ULTRASOUND THERAPY

Many of our patients at Chiropractic Health Associates suffer with joint pain and discomfort separate from the spine. Joints in the hands, arms, legs and feet are all common sources of discomfort that chiropractic can treat. Issues like carpal tunnel syndrome, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, muscle spasms, soft tissue injuries, and nerve pain all act upon all the joints in the body. As a first line of defense to combat these “Small” joint pain, and avoid surgery, ultrasound therapy can be used.

What is Ultrasound Therapy?

Ultrasound therapy (also known as therapeutic ultrasound or focused ultrasound) is a noninvasive, pain free treatment to help with a variety of joint, bone, nerve, and soft tissue issues. Ultrasound uses soundwaves to penetrate through the skin to aid the body’s natural healing process. As an alternative to painful surgeries and injections, it is a great option for those looking to holistically heal their bodies. Treatment sessions last around 10 minutes, and the Chiropractor or assistant will use circular motions around the area being treated. Because the therapy is painless, the patient may feel heat coming from the ultrasound probe.

What can it treat?

A chiropractor can prescribe ultrasound therapy to any patient that experiences pain involving the musculoskeletal system. It can treat a variety of issues including:

  • Referred spine pain
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Nerve pain
  • Muscle strain
  • Bursitis

It is important to note Ultrasound therapy can not be used over metal implants. If you think that ultrasound therapy may help you, but you have a medical implant, please look into our Infrared Laser therapy.
